Global Mecorock Project Ends the 2nd Year
The time is flying fast and already the 2nd year of the International project ”Global Mecorock – My Voice” is ending. It was initiated in the frames of the program “Jewish Peoplehood” of the Global JCC. Now Israel, Moldova and Venezuela take part in the project that attracts dozens of young participants and hundreds of spectators.
JCC KEDEM conducted the final event on June 3. It included exhibition of the best visual art works and concert of instrumental, vocal music and dances. Everything was prepared by participants who during the year were listening lectures on Tora chapters dedicated to Babel Tower, Rachel and Lea, Josef and his brothers stories and later created their own art vision of it.
“I am a bit proud to be in the final concert”, said Ingrid, one of the vocalists. “The project is very interesting and makes us think and be creative. I hope very much it will go on in the future”.
“I learn for a composer and Mecorock helped me so much during two years to create my own pieces for an orchestra and show them to the public. I am very happy to be a part of it!” told Ovidiu.
In November Chisinau will become the center of the Global Mecorock hosting the seminar for 25-40 participants from Israel, Venezuela and Moldova.
“The project taught me to work in team, gave me opportunities to communicate with peers from other countries, and learn Tora”, said Elena.
“This project is one of the most successful for our JCC during the last years”, confessed Stella Harmelina and Michael Finckel, co-coordinators of Mecorock in Moldova. “We hope it will get additional support and will be able to continue its activities that are very important and significant for the Jewish youngsters of our communities”.
