Summing Up the Year

Coming to the Rosh-ha-Shana every Jewish person and community makes sum up their activities during the past year. JCC KEDEM did the same. On September 27 it conducted two events in one – the first was International project “People of the World Write the Bible” organized together with “Hevruta in Moldova” project supported by JDC and Pincus Fund. And the second – awards to people and organizations who won in seven nominations “Person of the Year”.

Over 100 people including Ambassadors of Russian and Czech Republic, Director of the Bureau of Interethnic Relations, heads of the biggest cultural institutions of the country, other ethnic communities, leaders of the Jewish organizations became the official guests of the event. Reb Zalman-Leib Abelsky, chief Rabbi of Moldova, congratulated everybody with the coming holiday and wished health, peace and good inscription for the next year. People copied chapters from Tehilim (Psalms) book in special forms that later will be sent to the Bible Institute in Israel for publication. Everybody received certificates of participants of the project.


During the second part sweet menu was suggested according to Rosh-ha-Shana traditions, and 15 laureates among whom Yaromir Kvapil (Czech Ambassador in Moldova, Jeffrey Goveia (Country Director of Peace Corps), Alexander Usatyi (vice-mayor of Beltsy), Academician Andrey Galben (ULIM University Rector) and others received Diplomas and nice menorah and hamsah specially brought from Israel.

Nice concert and meals crowned the festive atmosphere.

“We are partners for many years”, acknowledged Svetlana Bivol, National Philharmonic Director. “And I know and sure that JCC KEDEM is one of the most professional and attractive places in the cultural life of our city”.

“I am honored to be invited today and get the Diploma in such a prestigious place as JCC KEDEM”, said Tatyana Mlechko, Rector of Slavic University of Moldova. “I join all of you in congratulations and wishes of good year!”
