The 10th Hanukkah of the KJJC

Hanukkah holiday is a special one for the KJJC. First, because it started functioning on Hanukkah in 2005. Second as the name itself of the holiday means hanukah ha-bait – renovation of the home (Temple).
This year the program as usually was very intensive and diversified. Together with all the Jewish organizations of Chisinau JCC KEDEM participated in lighting candles of the main Hanukkiah of the city that was placed near the Russian Chekhov Theater (former choral synagogue). All day Festival “Hofesh”, concerts for welfare center ‘Hesed Yehuda’ clients, charity marathon for needy kids, fire shows at the KJJC Open Space, joint youth disco party with the JAFI at Sun City trade center, Volunteer of the Year award, opening of the new exhibition of the Museum of Jewish Heritage of Moldova, Hanukkah for the JCC Family club and students of city theater lyceum – this is just not the entire list of events and programs that attracted hundreds of spectators and participants, TV, newspapers and broadcasts.
All the forms – lectures, concerts, parties, etc. - informed people again and again about the deep meaning of Hanukkah miracles, direct and symbolic victory of light over darkness in the physical and spiritual worlds, in our hearts, its meaning for the Jewish history for over 2,000 years passed from the war with Syrian Greeks and for keeping our traditions and faith.
Asking “How did you like Hanukkah program at the KJJC this year?” we most often got the answer: “It was bright and miraculous as it has to be on this holiday!”
