Victoria, her husband Veceslav, and their two children with special needs rent a small apartment, together with another impoverished family. Veceslav went abroad to earn money, though he returned after one month, unable to find employment. He now works as a loader.
The family's financial situation is dire, which makes the burden of having children with disabilities that much greater. While their total monthly income is $110, rent and utilities expenses are $90, leaving little on which to live. Food assistance provided by Jewish Family Service enables the family to survive. In addition, the children receive medical consultations and assistance through the Hesed social welfare program. Following her graduation from a course in hairdressing, Victoria successfully found a job. She hopes to be able to offer her children a better life in the near future.
