JDC Working Visit: “To See Faces of Hope”

The JDC Resources Development Study Trip by professionals from the USA and Israel embraced first of all welfare direction of activities in Moldova. The group of 12 people visited Beltsy and Kishinev welfare organizations, Hesed and Jewish Family Service, made home visits and got briefings on the situation in the region in general and the Jewish community in particular.

Tour of the KJJC that included all the range of welfare programs for elderly and children as well as cultural programs run by the JCC was impressive.

Besides touching stories of the Day Center patrons, tragic destinies of kids with special needs from JFS programs, visit to Museum of the Jewish Heritage and joint Kaddish at the Monument to the Holocaust victims were probably the most emotional moments of the mission.

“We visited wonderful programs run by dedicated professionals and volunteers who spend hours of their time changing the life of the community”, wrote Rochelle Elbaz, member of the group. “I shall as well as my colleagues share our experience, stories and photos with our colleagues in Jerusalem and New York. Our meetings enhanced our knowledge of activities and complexities in Moldova community and we thank everyone for their time devoted to the group.”
